James Senese, 80 years of truth and resistance: the tour “Chest'è 'a terra mia” begins between music, struggle and Neapolitan soul

The CHEST'È 'A TERRA MIA – OTTANT'ANNI TOUR by JAMES SENESE will begin on June 15 , a special tour that celebrates not only the new music included in his latest album, “Chest nun è 'a terra mia”, but also the 80th birthday of one of the greatest masters of the Italian scene. Released on May 2, “ Chest nun è 'a terra mia ” (Arealive / distribution Believe) is the new album of unreleased material by James Senese, the twenty-second of his long career: an intense and visceral work, which speaks for a humanity in conflict with itself, always searching for answers and truth. A collection of nine songs born from the daily struggle and the awareness that, despite the passing of time and the succession of generations, some fundamental truths remain unchanged. A profound reflection on the world, on the progress that too often proves ephemeral, and on the need to resist with strength and authenticity.
James Senese introduces the new album as follows: “We have always been all against all and this is because good and evil cannot coexist. I have been fighting since I was born, it seems that things have changed for the better, but it is false, and in these times that we are living we are realizing it.
We should look for the dimensions of our deepest self, which lead to the connection with the soul, which we do not perceive but which are there waiting for us. If we open our hearts and our eyes more we will have the possibility of finding that happiness that we cannot see. I am communicating something that I feel and see finally, and that I have been looking for all my life. God created, but we killed him. Be strong with your feelings and grateful with those who can give you a shock; This is love!”
James Senese never stops questioning himself and his audience, carrying forward a music that is research, resistance and truth: through his unmistakable musical language, he invites us to rediscover the dimensions that surround us but that we too often ignore, to open our eyes to glimpse that happiness that seems to escape us. An exhortation to let ourselves be crossed by the most authentic feelings, because only by fully embracing our emotions can we truly understand the meaning of life.
Among the most important musicians and composers of the Italian music scene, James Senese is the symbol of an incessant research and an energy that knows no limits. For almost sixty years, with passion and dedication, he has been treading the stages of theaters, festivals and clubs, bringing with him a unique sound that blends Neapolitan roots with international influences: an innovative sound language, which has consecrated him as a reference figure for generations of musicians and music lovers.
Protagonist of the Neapolitan Power movement, James Senese has written unforgettable pages of Italian music, with an infinite number of prestigious collaborations and twenty-two albums: works strongly characterized by social and cultural themes, which reflect his deep connection with Naples and its people, and speak of identity, marginalization and redemption, testimony of a long and unparalleled artistic career without compromises and of a commitment that shows no signs of fading. In his songs, the sax, with its unmistakable sound, tells the emotions of those who face the fight for the dignity of living every day: pain and strength, hope and fear, war and resistance.
His concerts are real collective rituals, in which fathers and sons find themselves united by the emotion of an experience that transcends simple listening. Seeing James Senese live is the only way to fully grasp his uniqueness, just as his music should be listened to live: an explosive fusion of jazz, funk and Afro, crossed by that visceral "negritude" that merges with the most authentic soul of the Neapolitan tradition.
The album was preceded on April 4 by two singles: “ Ammiscamm chesta vita ”, a song with a magnetic atmosphere, a fascinating encounter between contemporary sounds and echoes of the past, in which his voice, which seems to defy the laws of time, transmits with extraordinary power the depth of his experiences, and “ Metropolis ”, an instrumental piece imbued with electronics and elegance, supported by a poignant and pervasive sax.
